No, but it does not sit too low at all, in fact adding a box spring would make it sit too high. It's acutally at a standard height.

answer 2
With a 10.5" mattress, the top of the mattress will be just about 23" from the floor. Because the bed is proportioned for use with a mattress only, adding a box spring would put the top of the mattress nearly level with the top of the footboard.

No... and yes. This type of bed will not accommodate a typical off-the shelf bedskirt, but with a little ingenuity it would not be difficult to craft one yourself. You simply need to apply some velcro to the inside of the side rails, and sew a fabric panel (skirt) that is attached with more velcro. It's actually pretty easy to do. (I'm an interior designer, and we do this all the time for our clients).

Because the Jenny Lind Bed does not use a box spring, it is not able to accommodate a bed skirt.

There are no wood veneers or MDF in the Jenny Lind bed. The legs, spindles, and mattress support slats are made solid poplar; the side rails and the solid panels on the headboard and footboard are made of plywood.
