How much "head room" is there on the lower bunk of the Walden twin Bunk bed? Can a teenager sit-up underneath? How far does the ladder come out?

Assuming that the bottom bunk is using a 10.5" mattress, there is approximately 29.5" of headroom, which is plenty of room for a child and many adults to sit comfortably.

Yes, the Walden Bunk Bed can be set up as two separate twin beds by pairing one footboard (from the top bunk) with one headboard (from the bottom bunk) and attaching the siderails and slats. However, because the beds were not originally designed to be separated, we do not have caps to cover the holes that will be left in the headboards of each bed that normally accommodate the hardware necessary for stacking the beds. Also, please note that the beds will not have finials like the Twin Walden Beds.

In order to meet safety regulations, the top bunk must use a Rite Height (bunk) mattress.
