How does the stay-put mat stick to the table? I can see that the mat keeps the plate in place but what stops baby from tossing the whole mat?

It's fairly heavy and flat, so they really have to work at pushing or flipping it off the table. But, they don't attach to the table, if that's what you're wondering. FYI: Mine doesn't fit on my daughter's high chair tray, so we have to use it at the table.

The bottom of the mat is non-skid to help keep it in place while eating. Since it doesn't attach to the table, and the plate is also easily removed, this mat is not a solution for children who still throw their plates and utensils on the floor.
