What material are the letters made of, and what are the dimensions?

Heavier than paper but not as heavy as cardboard (more like a poster board material) Perfect to hang on the wall and keep the look you want. It won't fly or fold over if the fan is on.

The Varsity Letters vary in width, but they all measure 6"H. Made of laminated chipboard, the letters are similar to a puzzle piece.

i plan on using knobs that are screwed into the wall or furniture tacks

One idea is to tie each end of the shoelace to a small nail that's been inserted into the wall. Another idea, if you have enough extra shoelace, is to tie each end of the shoelace to one of our Hang-Ups that has been attached to the wall.
