how high is the bed platform from the floor?

The measurement from the floor to the bottom of the siderail is 11", but the slats actually sit a couple inches higher at 13".

Not really, I think it might look funny b/c the mattress sits in the fame. The frame has individual boards, so it wouldn't really fall from the frame correctly.

Because the bed has a slat system to support the mattress, it is not designed to be used with a bed skirt.

From the mattress slats to the top of the headboard, the height is 29". Even with a 12.5" mattress, quite a bit of the headboard will still be visible.

The Petite Marguerite Bed is constructed primarily of solid poplar; the headboard and footboard panels are made of low emission engineered wood, the side rails are made of plywood, and the bed is finished with a nitrocellulose lacquer.

Petite Marguerite is just our name for this bed, though not having a tall footboard makes the bed seem a little more petite than others. All of our beds accept standard twin and full sized mattresses.

Not being able to see your room, it's hard to say, but I don't think it would look any more weird than most other beds. It's a cute bed, so I'm sure it would look fine!
