The string is already preloaded onto the wooden pegs that you hang. You can't vary the length of string between the three pegs.

small wall screws will fit into eyelet openings in the back of each wooden "knob" (star, bird, flower, etc)

The Art Clips come with keyhole openings on the back of the stars, hearts, birds and flowers. Nails for hanging up the Art Clips are not included.

The clothespins that are included with the Art Clips are removable, but the decorative accents that attach to the wall (Star, Birds, Flowers) cannot be removed.

There is a hole on the back of each wooden piece (star, flower, heart, etc). I used a nail with a medium size head and the wooden piece easily slides over the nail head.
