we just unrolled and laid this rug out on our hard wood floor. it lays flat and the corners are not curled. should be fine over a carpet too.

I have the rug on hardwood floor, but it appears heavy enough that the corners wouldn't ever turn up regardless of what surface it's on.

Because all carpets vary, it would be difficult to generalize about how a particular rug would perform when placed on carpeting. We would recommend using a rug pad to help the rug stay in place and to give it additional support, especially since it does not have a backing.

I have the carpet on a white tile and it has not discolored the tile or the grout, even when my son poured a huge cup of water on it. You'll want a carpet pad, anyway, as it's a bit slick and moves without one, so that will keep the wood protected as well. Hope you enjoy as much as I do!

We've not heard any complaints of the denim fabric in our rag rug staining the flooring underneath it. However, we always recommend purchasing a rug pad to go under any rug. Not only will this help to protect your floor from the unlikely event that the color would bleed from the rug, but it will also offer additional padding and help prevent the rug from sliding on the floor.

Question
Can you machine wash if needed?
I want a rug for my son's room that I can throw in our large washing machine when needed, I assume denim can be machine washed but want confirmation before I purchase. Thanks!

the tag on the rug says spot clean or professional clean. I wouldn't wash in a machine - I could see the rag tag ties loosen and start to unravel from the heavy motion of a washing machine.
